OUR STORY

14 years ago we fell in love at sea practicing Kiteboarding, an extreme sport that depends on the wind.

We are Kite Addict Colombia

In 2011, we opened our own Kiteboarding school first in Cabo de la Vela and after that in 2018 in Mayapo. Together we started our little Colombian-German kite Family that consists of a lot of kitesurf instructors, dogs, cats and our two children.

TIME LAPSE

We opened the first Kiteboarding School in La Guajira in 2011.

We arrived at Cabo de la Vela, a town in nowhere, in the middle of the desert. The beginning was hard, tourists only arrived In the high seasons, until people found out through a lot of publicity and international competitions that it was the perfect place to practice Kiteboarding. The sport drew a lot of attention of the young people of Cabo. We started teaching Nelson first, a Wayuu boy who has 10 siblings. We continued teaching his brother Betico, cousins, friends, sisters… This child is now 20 years old and owns his own Kite school together with his brother Betico who competes around the world and has won a few competitions at the Kite Fest Argentina, Lords of Tram and Big Air Kite League. Beto is part of our Foundation Jouktai and thanks to the support of many friends and clients, we were able to send him to China, to the Olympic Games qualifier. From fishing and handicrafts these young people became the protagonists of their life and their future with bigger opportunities and a more open world view. We grew Cabo de la Vela from 0 to 5 Kite schools and constant and sustainable tourism throughout the year.

In 2018 our daughter Amelie came into our lives, completely changing our world. We decided to move to Riohacha and with this, make new plans.

With an experience of 20 years and a social work already done satisfactorily, we brought our kite school to Riohacha and to Mayapo, a virgin beach only 30 minutes fro Riohacha by car. We started building our school there and the businesses around our school are steadily growing. Mayapo now counts with 70% more accommodations and restaurants and has constantly visitors. The pandemic slowed us down in our building projects and social projects but we are always moving forward! Now we added little Max to our family and together we are woking on living our dream lives at our beautiful beach and simultaneously increase the local tourism and contribute to the progress and development of the region.
